SAA was contracted to complete the site and landscape design for the first phase expansion of Madison College in 2011. The expansion included the addition of four new buildings to help meet the future needs of the school which had recently experienced a 20% growth rate over the previous 5 years. As a part of the expansion, three of the new buildings were to be constructed on existing surface parking areas. In order to determine the short term and long term parking needs of the campus, SAA completed a parking study that included a survey of existing parking supply and demand as well as a projection of future parking demand. An area wide traffic study was also completed that recommended narrowing an existing four lane street that bisected the campus and reconstructing it as a “complete street” to make it more pedestrian friendly and accommodate bicyclists and transit.
