Sheboygan County, WI is one of four Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Projects (NTPP) in the US authorized to demonstrate how improved walking and bicycling networks can increase the prevalence of these modes for transportation. SAA was hired to provide design services, including a comprehensive facility design report, for this demonstration pilot project.
SAA worked with Sheboygan County and seven municipalities to include bicycle facilities on existing roadway cross sections. Methodologies included narrowing travel lanes, elimination of on-street parking, reconfiguring travel lanes (road diet), or widening travel lanes to accommodate bicycle users. SAA is currently providing construction administration and inspection services for the (re)striping implementation projects.
